An Update from SEF President Kristin Shackelford

It’s been a busy fall for SEF, and we’re excited to share the details of our upcoming Annual Gala. But first, a quick recap of the 2023-2024 school year so far.
On September 21st, SEF participated in the North Texas Giving Day fundraising event with an objective of raising at least $15,000. By the close of the event, SEF had raised $15,545, which surpassed the goal. Thank you to everyone who contributed!
On October 25th, the SEF Grant committee approved $80,951 in grants for Spring 2024. Combined with the $85,691 previously approved for Fall 2023, a total of $166,642 in teacher grants will have been awarded for the 2023-2024 school year. SEF grants fund educational programs and activities that were either not funded or were under-funded by the normal operating budget. These grants greatly enrich the learning experience of students across all our campuses.
On October 31st, SEF kicked off its 2024-2025 fundraising campaign by hosting our Sponsor Appreciation Breakfast at the Dallas Athletic Club to recognize and thank previous donors. We are thrilled to announce that we have already received pledges totaling over $50,000.
This brings us to the Annual Gala news…
The 2024 Gala will be held on February 17th at Union Station at 6:30 pm. This year’s theme is Black & White, inviting attendees to wear the timeless sophistication of black and white attire. Prepare to be transported into a monochromatic wonderland. From the décor to the entertainment, every detail will exude the elegance and charm of black and white. For this first time ever, the Gala will be held at Union Station in downtown Dallas. This beautiful historic building is the perfect venue for the Blank & White theme. The gala will include a sit-down plated dinner prepared by Wolfgang Puck catering. Tickets are on sale now!

This year SEF is honored to have a new sponsor to the Gala, Congressman Lance Gooden. Congressman Gooden will be the $15,000 Presenting Sponsor.
